Getting your feet ready for travel

Travelling somewhere warm is the common theme this week.

It seems that patient after patient is about to head off overseas, or has just returned.

So with that in mind, here are our top tips for travel-ready feet.

Shoes

Invest in a good pair of shoes.

You’ll be walking much more than you usually do. And the last thing you’ll want is being held back by sore feet.

Wear shoes that can be adjusted – so with shoelaces or Velcro straps.

This is because feet often swell if you're sitting for a long time—say on a plane or a bus.

Make sure that the shoes fit you properly. Wear them before you head out on your trip, to make sure they can hold up to long walks.

Wear shoes with good arch support. They need to be solid through the instep. Don’t buy shoes for walking that can be bent in half.

Say goodbye to sore feet

If you’re feeling any pain in your feet and legs, drop in to Capital Podiatry before your trip.

We specialise in treating painful feet.

Depending on your condition, our treatment will include:

  • releasing or ‘mobilising’ any stuck joints—a common cause of pain
  • assessing your gait
  • giving footwear advice
  • finding any muscle trigger points that are causing your pain
  • easing your muscles and fascia, using a mix of heat and cold, and
  • prescribing a set of exercises for homework, covering stretch, strength and balance exercises.

Beautiful feet

If you’re heading off somewhere warm, you will want to transform your winter feet.

Come to see us and we’ll smooth out your skin and get your nails looking like new.

We also have a good track record in treating fungal nails with laser therapy.
