1. If your feet haven't been measured for a few years, ask while you're buying your next pair of shoes.
Your feet often grow as you age, and they can also grow when you're pregnant. So if you haven't had your feet measured for a few years, ask for a measurement while you're buying your next pair of shoes.
2. Your feet don't need to smell.
You use deoderant for your armpits, and feet are the same. If your shoes smell, use a shoe spray. We also sell ShoeZap®, which kills the bacteria and fungus that cause Athlete's Foot, fungal nails, foot and shoe odours and diabetic infections.
Alternate your shoes each day, so your shoes get a chance to dry out. Wear socks, and change them every day. Otherwise, the sweat will help bacteria grow and increase the bad odour.
3. Infections from nail salons mean big business for us.
If you decide to go to a nail salon for a manicure or pedicure, make sure their instruments are always sterilised in a surgical-grade autoclave.
If their instruments and foot baths are not cleaned, you could walk out of the salon with a fungal infection.
And don't shave in the day or two before your visit. Shaving leaves you with microscopic nicks and grazes, leaving you open to infection from bacteria and fungus.
4. Off-the-shelf orthotics are a bit of a gimmick.
They may give you some relief, padding and arch support, but they're nothing like the orthotics I make in my clinic. Orthotics are made to a prescription, like glasses. They are made to correct the biomechanics of the way you walk.
